DUET® Compatibility System Facts
DUET® is a leading-edge personality assessment based upon 35 years of academic research. It was co-developed by renowned relationship authority, published author and Chief Relationship Expert for www.Perfectmatch.com, Pepper Schwartz, Ph.D (Dr. Schwartz), and the online dating pioneers from Perfectmatch.com.
Launched in 2003 as the key matchmaking device of relationship website Perfectmatch.com, DUET® analyzes the key elements which create highly compatible, long-term matches. Unlike other matchmaking systems which match people based solely upon similar character traits (e.g., who is like you, etc.), DUET® pioneered analyzing and matching individuals who share similar traits and complementary traits, and values. The DUET® assessment includes seven True or False questions, in each of the eight core dimensions of compatibility featured within DUET®. The eight categories are:
Similarity Indicator - Romantic Impulsivity; Personal Energy; Outlook; and Predictability.
Complementary Indicator - Flexibility; Decision Making Style; Emotionality; and Self-Nurturing.
In March, 2008, two weeks prior to the premiere of Dancing with the Stars (DWTS), each of the show's dancers and celebrities were given the DUET® assessment. The results were then analyzed by Dr. Schwartz and the Perfectmatch.com team to determine each dancer/celebrity team's Duet® compatibility. The assessment was used as a predictor of potential advantages or conflicts the couples may endure as they compete in the multi-week competition. The results of the assessments will be presented on the DWTS Show, airing April 1, 2008 on ABC-TV and culminating in Dr. Schwartz's announcing the dance partnership she believes to be most compatible - and likely to win the overall competition. In addition, Dr. Schwartz will identify the least compatible couple, whom Dr. Schwartz expects to struggle in the competition
